Land-Ocean Interaction in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ) is a core project of the International
Biophysical-Geophysical Programme which is evaluating changes in the earth's processes and
ecosystems. The LOICZ International Project Office coordinates and manages the activities of
core project, particularly through thematic and issue:reiated workshops in different parts oft
world and by integration of scientific information. English is the working language of the LO sb<
IPO.
We are seeking a confident and motivated person to be part of a small team that managestt j(J
operations of an international project involving a network of some 2400 scientists around the
world evaluating changes in the world's coastal zone.
The Office Manager will be responsible for routine secretarial and administrative functions
within the office, travel and workshop organisation, and assistance with day to day financial
activities and communication. The position is located at the Netherlands Institute for Sea Re
search (NIOZ) on Texel and some limited international travel may be involved. The position is
offered until end 2002 and subject to further funding of the project, may be extended.

We are seeking the services of an Editor to work with the LOICZ IPO in the preparation, editir 4"
and delivery in camera-ready form of scientific reports.
The LOICZ International Project Office coordinates and manages thematic and issue-related
workshops in different parts of the world and by integration of scientific information.
The reports will contain scientific information related to some of these workshops.
Reports will all be in English language and will involve text and graphics submitted from
scientists in various parts of the world. It is anticipated that the work will be based at LOICZII
utilising the various support and electronic facilities located there. LOICZ IPO is at the
Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ) on Texel. Payment will be made per unit report
accepted by LOICZ in camera-ready state
The successful applicant will be responsible to the LOICZ Executive Officer, must have experie
in scientific report preparation and be fluent in spoken and written English language.
Familiarity with MS Windows-based software and a working knowledge of marine ecosystem
processes is essential. Familiarity with use of publication software and experience in working
with networked organisations would be of advantage.
